Machining PEEK™ – Why Choose This Type Of Plastic?

PEEK™ is characterised by excellent mechanical properties maintained at high temperatures and its high-resistance to many chemicals.

PROPERTIES
PEEK™ is a rigid opaque material with a unique combination of properties, including exceptional chemical, wear, electrical and temperature resistance, as well as good dimensional stability and accurate machining repeat-ability.

COMMON USES & APPLICATIONS
PEEK™ is often used as a replacement for machined metals in a wide variety of high performance applications. These applications range in diversity from components for cars, aircraft, industrial pumps, valves and seals, to silicon wafer carriers, connectors and for critical components used in medical and life science machines and equipment.

PHYSICAL PROPERTIES OF PEEK™
• Tensile Strength: 97-100 N/mm²
• Notched Impact Strength: 6.1 – 7.5 Kj/m²
• Thermal Coefficient of expansion: 47 x 10-6
• Max Continued Use Temp: 250°C
• Density: 1.28 – 1.32 g/cm3

MACHINING PEEK™
Machining PEEK™ accurately requires vast skill and expertise. Meeting these requirements on a daily basis requires high performance machines, tools, experience, robust and efficient processes, and a culture of accepting only the highest quality.  Carville has many years of experience and expertise required for the production of high-precision machined PEEK™ components.
